spiritual cinema

Great cinema can give us a powerful sense of the other people’s lives. It can confront us with things outside our own direct experience. It can shift our attention away from our own preoccupations towards greater awareness and compassion for other people. The emotions films induce in us can move us into deeper inner space, and, in the hands of a great artist, images can resonate with our deepest desires and dreams. Films are great companions on the journey.

Spiritual Cinema

encourages the use of film and video as a means of personal and spiritual growth by:

  • arranging screenings, discussions and events around films and video

  • supporting the making and distribution of films and videos of spiritual interest.

Spiritual Cinema is independent of any religious organisation and works with film and video from all faith traditions and none.

Screenings  are usually introduced by guest speakers with a short talk. Usually there are specifically written programme notes with discussion and a short liturgy related to the film afterwards.
